But the beautiful house is already on the verge of destruction. Not because of the demolition already in process, but because of Hurricane Ian. 

Warnings for a major disaster have already been issued, and areas are getting evacuated as well. Ian has its eyes set on Florida’s west coast and has already made landfall in Cuba.

How is Jeter’s Tampa mansion in jeopardy because of Hurricane Ian?

Florida’s west coast areas include Bradenton, Clearwater, Crystal River, Fort Myers, St. Pete Beach, St. Petersburg, and Tampa. Tampa is also the largest city in the region. The largest city means the largest population; They have been now asked to evacuate voluntarily. However, moving such a large number of people is not an easy task.

The shortstop’s Tampa Bay mansion is already in the news ever since people got to know about the house’s official demolition, citing a violation of the law. In the time that Jeter lived and sold the mansion, the flood warning requirements have already changed. So after the demolition and whatever gets built in its place, it will be at least six feet higher than the house.

What is Hurricane Ian’s location as of now?

The major category three hurricane has already made landfall in Cuba. And if the forecasters are right, it will soon be moving to the east coast of Florida. Authorities there have already started to cancel the flights. And necessary evacuations are already on the go.

Ian made its landfall at 4.30 am, Eastern time. Also, it was reportedly producing maximum sustained winds of about 125 miles per hour. If Ian increases its speed by 5 mph, the hurricane would be classified as a major category 4 storm. Meanwhile, South Florida is expecting heavy rainfall as does the Florida Keys.
