“Who Gives a Sh*t if They’re Doing Steroids?”– UFC Commentator Joe Rogan Baffled by Drug Testing Implemented During Baseball’s Steroid Era

The Joe Rogan Experience is frequently in the news for numerous reasons. The show host Joe Rogan is famous or rather infamous (depending on perception) for making bold statements that often have brushed with controversy. He recently did something of that sort yet again. In an episode with comedian Paul Virzi as his guest, they both had a lot to say about baseball’s steroid era.


Rogan is a world-renowned figure in the UFC/MMA community who needs no formal introduction. Rogan is a UFC commentator, actor, comedian, tv presenter, and podcaster. Rogan’s global popularity skyrocketed from his podcast. While the guest of the episode, Paul Virzi, is a stand-up comedian and host of his own podcast, The Virzi Effect.

Various established personalities from different professional spheres grace the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Rogan talks about numerous topics ranging from sports to current affairs.

Joe Rogan disappointed with the drug bust

On July 13th, 2022, stand-up comedian and podcaster Paul Virzi made an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The two talked about the drug bust cases in baseball. Joe Rogan mentioned how there were no issues with drug intake in baseball back in the 1970s. They then joked about the impact drugs had on the number of home runs in a season.

Rogan briefly took a swipe at former President of the USA, Ronald Reagan’s ‘War On Drugs’ in the year 1986. About the pre-drug bust era baseball, Rogan quoted, “Those guys, like if you think about it, they made baseball more interesting though. Like it’s so stupid that they busted them for that. They should have been just like, everybody shut the f*** up.” 

Paul Virzi fully agreed with what Joe Rogan had to say and replied, “They brought baseball back.”

Receiving support from his guest, Joe Rogan charged up. Rogan further added, “Why did they make a big deal out of it? Who gives a sh*t if they’re doing steroids?” Rogan then explained the prime reason behind the baseball drug bust stood baseball’s status as the National Sport. He also jokingly said that how no one would care if a darts player would take drugs. 

Rogan channeling Mark McGwire 

Retired baseball legend and prolific home run hitter Mark McGwire, once admitted to taking Performance Enhancement Drugs during his playing career. McGwire claimed to have taken drugs in the 1998 MLB season when he broke the home run record. An act that McGwire later regretted, wishing that baseball players stop taking steroids. So Joe Rogan hilariously slammed Mark McGwire as willing to decrease the number of home runs per season.
