“You’re tall,” Shohei Ohtani said to Cameron Brink, and so did the rest of the internet. It was a meeting that stole the show. The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar interacting with the future LA Sparks star wasn’t something that many expected to happen. However, Ohtani’s deep history with basketball courtesy of his wife Mamiko Tanaka being a former player did play its part here.

Even though Tanaka has retired from active basketball, her love for the sport hasn’t ended. Her husband’s interaction with Cameron Brink proved that. While the two-way phenom was joking around with the rookie, he revealed an interesting detail about Tanaka. More specifically, a very special wish of his wife that he wishes to fulfill soon.

In a video that has gone viral, Ohtani is seen talking and laughing with Brink. While the two were joking around, Brink revealed her intentions to make it to the Olympics. The Dodgers star was visibly impressed and then revealed to her that his wife Mamiko was a fan and wished to come and meet Brink. The rookie couldn’t help but blush after listening to this glowing praise.

Per Yahoo Sports, Brink had nothing but praises for Ohtani. The star rookie said to Spectrum SportsNet LA, “I just think he’s great. I know his wife played basketball too, so I love them. I just love everything he stands for.” Clearly, the appreciation goes both ways here. Maybe in the future, we might see Mamiko meeting and interacting with Brink. Imagine how amazing it would be to see Ohtani and Mamiko together attending a WNBA game.

That adds another layer to Ohtani’s relationship with Mamiko. The two have quickly become one of the most loved couples in baseball. However, it once again highlights how the love for sports is something that one cannot lose. But then it wasn’t the only thing that got the fans talking.

Shocked fans ask – Shohei Ohtani can speak fluent English?

Amidst this wholesome meeting, there was one thing that caught everyone’s attention. It was the sight of Shohei Ohtani speaking in fluent English. Though there have been multiple reports of Shotime being a good speaker, it’s still absurd to see him do it in real-time. “Hold that man speak perfect English why does he needs a translator again?” a fan wondered. That is a question that nearly every fan asked.

“Homeboy speaks better English than half my familia,” another fan noted. Certainly, Ohtani looks quite fluent and comfortable with conversing in English. “Does Shohei really need an interpreter? Would have saved a lot of money if he had never gotten one!” an X user wrote. That does make some sense seeing the Ippei Mizuhara controversy that surrounded Ohtani.

However, a few fans also expressed their feelings on this overall meeting. “Still can’t get over the fact she’s taller,” a fan commented. Neither can the internet, which went on fire after the picture of Ohtani and Brink first came in. “I need a Lebron Shohei and Cam commercial immediately,” a fan shared their dream. That commercial might send the sports world into a frenzy. So as it stands, while Ohtani revealed Mamiko’s intentions, the internet couldn’t help but comment on his great English. And once again, the superstar has found something to endear himself to the fans.
