The Yankees have been in great form as of late. Perseverance has been key for them as they overcome a bad start to the 2023 regular season. During their most recent win, a debutant channeled his inner John Cena while celebrating his first hit as a Yankee.

New York Yankees catcher Ben Rortvedt used John Cena’s iconic move to celebrate his first hit in pinstripes

The Yankees won their most recent game against the Cincinnati Reds. It was a close contest that went to extra innings, with the Bronx Bombers emerging victorious in the 10th inning. During this game, Catcher Ben Rortvedt made his Yankees debut and had a special celebration for his first hit. He hit a deep left-field double in the 3rd inning to record his first hit in pinstripes. Following the hit, Rortvedt brought out John Cena’s infamous “You Can’t See Me” celebration. Yankees fan, Joe Randazzo, shared a tweet with the celebration for his 14.9k Twitter followers.

In a tweet, he said, “Ben Rortvedt doing the John Cena because we haven’t seen him”. The backup catcher had a great debut for the Bombers. He collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats, showing flashes of good batting skill. It will be interesting to see if he gets more chances to play, with two catchers ahead of him.

The most important thing is that the Yankees picked up the win, continuing their great form. They are coming off a crucial series win over divisions rivals in the Toronto Blue Jays. It will be interesting to see how long they can continue this form.

The Yankees have won the first two games against the Reds and are on the verge of sweeping them. The team will look to close the series on a high note. Furthermore, it will help continue their ascent of the AL East. Following this series, they return home for a crucial face-off against the Baltimore Orioles.
