MMA is a combat sport where everyone witnesses a lot of bizarre moments in the heat of battle, and injuries are just part and parcel of things. One of those bizarre moments took place recently with a fighter named Jason Jackson in an event hosted by Bellator.

Recently, in Bellator 255 co-main event, a welterweight battle took place between Jason Jackson and Neiman Gracie. Jackson and Gracie exchanged some good shots right off the bat in round one. Soon, Gracie went in for the takedown, but he failed. During Gracie’s failed attempt at the takedown, he ended up on the floor, but immediately reversed it.

As the fight progressed, Jackson was seen complaining about his sight to the referee, who immediately called in the doctor to look at his eye. When the replay of Gracie’s reversal played in slow-motion, it turns out that Jackson grazed his face on the cage. This resulted in his eye injury.

Did Jason Jackson continue his Bellator 255 fight after the eye injury?

Jackson, who was on a three-fight winning run, was 6-1 in his past seven bouts before facing Gracie. Akin to any combat athlete, he refused to let an injury impede his path to victory.

After the doctor looked into Jackson’s eye, they allowed him to continue the fight which went the distance. In the last round, Gracie again attempted the takedown and failed, but this time Jackson took this opportunity to stay on top and kept hitting him for the final 180 seconds of the contest.

All the judges scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Jackson to hand him a unanimous decision win. Even though Jackson faced a bizarre situation, getting his eye poked by the cage, he still secured the win by using a mix of his skills, strength, and excellent strategy.
