Claressa Shields Bashes Showtime for Technical Difficulties During Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul

Floyd Mayweather took on YouTuber Logan Paul in a blockbuster exhibition fight in Miami tonight. The two men took part in an 8-round fight, which was broadcasted on ShowTime PPV. However, it was not all smooth sailing for the broadcasting giant, as they suffered technical problems. 

The Showtime support account tweeted, “IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are aware of an issue impacting tonight’s PPV event as well as the SHOWTIME and SHOWTIME Anytime apps. Updates will be posted here, so please refresh your browser to view the latest update”

Multiple-time Olympic gold medalist and world champion boxer Claressa Shields made her displeasure about the situation known. She tweeted, “Wow @Showtime @SHOsports is down everywhere! Can’t even order the fight #mayweathervspaul”

Going into the fight, the consensus was that ‘The Maverick’, who had a sizeable reach, weight, and height advantage, would have the best chance in the first few rounds. However, as the fight would go on, Mayweather’s chances would increase.

This is because ‘Money’, who is known for having an endless gas tank, can push the fight at the same pace for the entire duration of the fight.

This is exactly how the fight played out on the night. Paul looked good in the first few rounds, moving around smoothly and landing a few shots. However, as he does in all of his fights, Mayweather spent the first few rounds gathering data and reading patterns on his opponent.

Once Mayweather got a read, he started becoming more aggressive, moving forward often. ‘Money’ Mayweather landed body shot after body shot that sucked the wind out of ‘The Maverick’.

This was apparent in the later rounds, as Paul’s hands dropped. Furthermore, he appeared labored in his movement. Although he continued fighting, it was apparent that he did not have the stamina. Despite being an amateur in the game, Paul put on an impressive display against arguably the greatest boxer of his generation.
