Going into the fight, the consensus was that ‘The Maverick’, who had a sizeable reach, weight, and height advantage, would have the best chance in the first few rounds. However, as the fight would go on, Mayweather’s chances would increase.

This is because ‘Money’, who is known for having an endless gas tank, can push the fight at the same pace for the entire duration of the fight.

This is exactly how the fight played out on the night. Paul looked good in the first few rounds, moving around smoothly and landing a few shots. However, as he does in all of his fights, Mayweather spent the first few rounds gathering data and reading patterns on his opponent.

This was apparent in the later rounds, as Paul’s hands dropped. Furthermore, he appeared labored in his movement. Although he continued fighting, it was apparent that he did not have the stamina. Despite being an amateur in the game, Paul put on an impressive display against arguably the greatest boxer of his generation.
