The Women’s UFC flyweight division will be on display in the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Sakai. Ariane Lipski and Montana De La Rosa are fighting in the main event of the prelims to see who comes out on top.

Both of them are targeting to break into the official UFC’s rankings for the women’s flyweight division. However, only one fighter can get it. Lipski will try to get her form back after she lost to Antonina Shevchenko in her last fight via knockout. She got that fight after a spectacular kneebar submission over Luana Carolina, which earned her performance of the night honors.

The Brazilian fighter was also the former KSW Women’s flyweight champion before she moved to the UFC. She is 2-3 in her five fights in the UFC and needs to get back to winning ways if she is to challenge for a title. While on the other hand, her opponent Montana De La Rosa is looking to get back to winning ways as well.

The American’s last fight was a Majority draw after her opponent Mayra Bueno Silva had a point deducted for grabbing the fence. She lost to Viviane Araujo before that, making it over a year since her last win.

Lipski is a Muay Thai specialist and mixes it up in the octagon. She has a record of 13-6 and has won six fights via knockout while losing two. Additionally, she has never been submitted and has three victories via submission. If her kneebar win over Luana Carolina is anything to go by, she will try to keep the fight on the ground.

However, this strategy can backfire spectacularly against her opponent.

De La Rosa is a submission specialist and has won eight of her 11 fights via submission. She has a record of 11-6 and has struggled in fights that have gone the distance. The American has lost four out of seven fights that have gone to the judges.

She needs to find a finish, and thus she’ll try to take her Brazilian counterpart down. Takedown defense will be vital for Lipski, and it will be interesting to see if she can handle De La Rosa’s submission attacks.
