Former UFC lightweight champion and now retired MMA professional Khabib Nurmagomedov had launched his own MMA production EFC (Eagle FC) in December last year. He did this shortly after his last bout for the promotion.

Despite barely being a few months old, the organization is growing fast and would soon compete on the world stage. And just like any other minor organization, EFC needs some time and improvements to settle down quickly.

Lately, the veteran appeared in an interview where he discussed the possible changes required for the organization to flourish. “First of all, we should really improve lighting at our events,” he said.

“I attend a lot of various tournaments- UFC, Bellator, PFL along with our local events held in the CIS countries. So I see we need better lighting.”

‘The Eagle’ further talked about staging some special main events that would attract more attention. The promotion does boast of some quality fighters but still are not big names to draw attention, according to Khabib. The former lightweight kingpin is looking to sign well-known fighters in the future.

When asked about the possible fighters he is currently negotiating with, Khabib mentioned two fighters. “It’s Adriano Martins and Will Brooks. We also consider some light heavyweights and heavyweights. We keep working and searching,” he said.

Khabib then called for patience as it’s only been half a year since the launch of Eagle FC. “We need time anyway. It’s still very hard to bring in foreign fighters because of Covid restrictions.”

“It’s still an issue, but we will keep sorting things out gradually,” he concluded.

Khabib Nurmagomedov on including MMA into Olympics

MMA is a sport that has received vast popularity in the last one and half decades. The Dagestani native is one of the many superstars who have made it possible for the world to reach the depths of this sport.

So fittingly he has all the right to speak about the developments and necessary steps to expand the sport. While giving the interview (via ESPN) in Uzbekistan last year, Khabib had pressed the idea of spreading MMA into the Olympics.

For now, it seems Khabib has indulged himself in a new MMA role which would see him work outside the octagon. But there are millions of fans still thinking that there will be a day soon that would see ‘The Eagle’ stepping up once again inside the octagon with fighting gloves.
