Gordon Ryan Claims Andre Galvao Has “Been Declining Matches” Against Him

Andre Galvao recently made headlines as he inked a deal with renowned promotion ONE Championship. While fans were excited about this news, one person took this opportunity to take a dig at the jiu-jitsu legend. It’s none other than Galvao’s bitter rival, Gordon Ryan, also a jiu-jitsu legend.

Galvao and Ryan are now slated to face each other in an epic grappling showdown at ADCC World Championships. The event will take place at the Thomas and Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on September 17 and 18, 2022.

However, it appears ‘The King’ Ryan couldn’t wait that long, as he recently made attempts to get under Galvao’s skin. 

Following Galvao’s news about joining ONE Championship, Ryan took things to social media, claiming that the 39-year-old had ducked him on numerous occasions prior to their scheduled grappling showdown.

‘The King’ Ryan, on his recent Instagram post, said – “Andres been declining matches with me since 2016 in all different organizations. He can now add @onechampionship to his list.”

Ryan and Galvao’s rivalry went to the next level when things got heated between the pair following the American grappler’s victory over Roberto Jimenez at Who’s Number One in February 2021. A verbal argument between them concluded in a physical altercation.

The argument resulted in Ryan slapping Galvao across the face twice. A video of this physical altercation surfaced online, which immediately went viral in the grappling community.

This incident also led to the build-up of even more hype around their upcoming grappling match at ADCC in 2022. Furthermore, fans can expect a high-level showcase of grappling mastery when these two legends face each other.

There is also a possibility of them facing each other in an MMA bout before ADCC, considering they are signed to the same promotion, and anything can happen between now and September 2022. Moreover, Ryan has often made it clear that he wants to have an MMA bout against Galvao.
