Next Friday, 15 October, Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan aims to complete his haul of world titles at the expense of Superbon Banchamek. The two kickboxing fighters will faceoff for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship in the main event of ONE: FIRST STRIKE.

The Armenian-Italian icon joined the ONE Super Series ranks in 2018, defeating Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy, Jo Nattawut, and Samy Sana to win the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix title a year later. This time around, there is a much bigger title at stake, and he’s more than ready to prove why the GOAT label is often associated with his name.

“I am truly thrilled for this match. I can’t wait for the opportunity to fight for another World Title, and I can’t wait for fight day to come,” Petrosyan said.

“I am thinking about the world title and about delivering a great performance.”

World titles are something that fuels the 35-year-old, and he stresses that his striking arsenal remains sharp as ever. Based on his recent performance against Davit Kiria in February, that seems very likely to be the case.

However, he knows Superbon will be a much greater threat compared to other opponents he had faced so far in the promotion, and admits he will not take things lightly against the KLF Kickboxing Tournament Champion.

“He is a super tough opponent. Everyone knows that he is very good with his legs. His technique is amazing. He has really good timing and is a well-rounded athlete,” Petrosyan said.

“I just need to keep the focus on what I have to do. I think my boxing skills are better. But if you don’t show it inside the ring, it doesn’t mean anything. Let’s see.”

Giorgio Petrosyan on Superbon Banchamek’s last outing

His rival made his second appearance in ONE, following a memorable outing against Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong at ONE: NO SURRENDER in July last year. In that fight, Superbon displayed his striking ammunition in all three rounds – connecting with his high kicks, knees, and huge right hooks to take home the decision.

That win did not impress Petrosyan too much, and he believes he already has what it takes to leave the ring with the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship.

“The Doctor” warned that fans can expect a war and another striking masterclass from the kickboxing GOAT as soon as the bell rings.

“When I step into the ring, I don’t joke around. I don’t need to put on a show. I only care about hitting hard and bringing home the belt,” Petrosyan stated.
