The epic ONE: X event was set to take place on December 05, 2021, to celebrate ONE Championship’s 10th anniversary. However, it got postponed because of Covid-19 concerns. This news left fans heartbroken as they were excited to witness the special rules super-fight between Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon. 

Now, it appears the promotion finally has a piece of good news for their ardent followers.

ONE Championship CEO, founder, and chairman, Chatri Sityodtong, appeared on Ariel Helwani’s show named ‘The MMA Hour.’ In that interview, he broke a piece of wonderful news regarding a new finalized date for ONE: X. It appears the blockbuster event will take place on March 26, 2022.

In his interview on ‘The MMA Hour,’ Sityodtong said – “We have a lot of more confidence in what’s happening. So, March 26, ONE: X goes down, so that crazy fight between DJ [Demetrious Johnson] and Rodtang…”

“Obviously, DJ needs no introduction, the GOAT of MMA who is then going to fight against Rodtang, who has over 300 professional fights in Muay Thai. I think he is 267 wins and 42 losses in Muay Thai. And it’s gonna be a mixed bout.” – the ONE Championship CEO added.

Furthermore, ONE: X is expected to be the promotion’s first full attendance event since the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Demetrious Johnson vs. Rodtang Jitmuangnon- Preview

As mentioned earlier, Demetrious Johnson vs. Rodtang Jitmuangnon super-fight will have special rules. The fight will consist of four rounds, where the opening and third rounds will be under Muay Thai rules and the second and fourth rounds under MMA rules.

Johnson, the MMA GOAT, will have an edge in the second and fourth rounds. Meanwhile, Rodtang, a Muay Thai specialist, will aim to seal the deal in the first and third rounds.

There is a possibility of the fight concluding in a dominating fashion, as the ‘Mighty Mouse’ is an elite grappler and Rodtang is a knockout artist. Thus, fans can certainly expect fireworks when two of the biggest names in combat sports clash against each other on March 26, at ONE: X.

Two exciting title fights added to the lead card of ONE: X

Besides the main event super-fight, fans can also look up to two exciting title fights at ONE: X. Angela Lee will defend her ONE women’s atomweight title against the Grand Prix winner Stamp Fairtex. Meanwhile, Adriano Moraes will defend his ONE flyweight title against Yuya Wakamatsu.

Lee will step into this bout after two years due to the joyful occasion of welcoming a newborn in April 2021. She last defended her title against Xiong Jing Nan in their rematch at ONE: CENTURY Part 1 in October 2019. 

Meanwhile, Stamp is coming off winning the women’s atomweight Grand Prix by beating Ritu Phogat at her own game in December 2021. Furthermore, the Fairtex representative is a former two-sport champion in kickboxing and Muay Thai. If she defeats Lee, she will become ONE Championship’s first three-sport world champion.

Moraes is stepping into his bout after a successful title defense, where he knocked out Demetrious Johnson in April 2021. Meanwhile, Wakamatsu is on an amazing five-fight win streak.
