Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has not competed for over 8 months since claiming the ONE Championship Flyweight Grand Prix last November. ‘Mighty Mouse’ was to take on Adriano Moraes at ONE Infinity 1 in April. However, the coronavirus pandemic saw the cancelation of sports across the world, which included Johnson’s maiden title bout at ONE Championship.

The hiatus is Johnson’s longest in his career, but if one looks at ‘Mighty Mouse’ they will get the impression that he is readying himself for a fight this weekend.

The fighter posted a workout video on his Instagram. Here he wrote, “Staying strong and fit in the offseason!!!”

Fans see the top-ranked ONE Championship flyweight MMA athlete test out his incredible hand strength. With both palms on bars parallel to each other, Johnson is engaging in serious exercise as Justin Timberlake’s ‘Sexyback’ plays in the background.

He gently lowers his torso and legs and curls as he moves his shoulders upwards. All of this happens while his palms are still gripping the bars next to him.

Now we get a glimpse of Johnson’s chiseled torso as he stretches forwards with his legs in a 90-degree angle with his arms still keeping him up.

Mighty Mouse’ repeats the motion thrice, taking care to ensure that his feet do not even scrape the ground. Moving to the handstand takes tremendous effort from the fighter, which we deduce as he grunts out loudly.

What’s next for Demetrious Johnson?

ONE Championship resumed events with No Surrender 1 in Thailand. The promotion has planned for more ‘No Surrender’ events for the entire month. However, as Johnson is based in the United States and his opponent is from Brazil, it may take a while before the two athletes go head to head.
