Can Anthony Pettis bounce back into the win column against Alexander Martinez?
Pettis made his PFL debut this April against Clay Collard. The fight did not go his way as he succumbed to a unanimous decision loss on his debut. However, he went into this fight on the back of a two-match win streak (with victories over the likes of Donald Cerrone and Alex Morono). He will be aiming to get back into the win column against a relatively inexperienced Martinez.

Martinez, too, made his PFL debut in April, securing a split-decision win over Loik Radzhabov. Now, the 8-0 fighter will be aiming to extend his win streak in the promotion.

Pettis is known for his striking. He has secured 46% of his wins via T/KO. ‘Showtime’ does not have one-punch knockout power, rather he puts together combinations to effectively break down his opponent, leaving them defenseless. He will be aiming to do the same against Martinez who has far less experience than him.
Martinez is not the best striker, however, he is an extremely skilled Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. The Paraguayan, who has secured 50% of his wins via submission, will bank on that against ‘Showtime’.

The result will depend a lot on how long Pettis can keep the fight on the feet. He will have to use every bit of his experience and takedown defense abilities to keep the fight on a vertical base. This will give him the best chance to win.
