In a recent interview with Helen Yee, ‘The Soldier of God’ Yoel Romero gave his thoughts on the exhibition boxing matches that are taking place right now. He also teased an announcement of his own.

He said, “You know when you see the glamor, the fashion, the people use Gucci, Christian Louboutin, Versace. But now the fashion is boxing and MMA fight. But I think Georges St-Pierre is a great fighter very smart guy, intelligent. Oscar De La Hoya is a legend in the boxing. He needs to be careful with Georges St-Pierre.”

‘The Soldier of God’ continued, “Now, my boy Tyron Woodley is fighting this YouTuber guy. He kill this guy, believe me. And we have a surprise too….. In boxing.” When asked if the announcement in boxing involved him, Romero remained coy.

Will we see the likes of Yoel Romero and Georges St-Pierre in exhibition fights this year?

Yoel Romero is signed with Bellator. He has not made his debut with the promotion yet as he had to withdraw from his fight against Anthony Johnson. However, the 44-year-old will most likely fight before the end of this year.

Also, one can’t ignore the fact that ‘The Soldier of God’ teased a possible foray into boxing. Given the extremely bizarre matchups taking place these days, it will not come as a surprise to fans if Romero enters a boxing bout.

Unfortunately for ‘GSP’, a boxing match will not be as easy. He is currently under contract with the UFC and an exhibition fight against anyone will require approval from Dana White. The UFC supremo was vehemently against ‘GSP’ fighting Oscar De La Hoya which is why the fight never materialized. It will be interesting to see if White changes his stance on the matter as time goes on.
