Amanda Ribas is one of the best flyweights in the UFC right now. Ribas made her debut in the UFC in June 2019 and has been on a tear ever since. She is 4-0 in the UFC with impressive wins over big names such as Mackenzie Dern and Paige VanZant among others.

’12 Gauge’ is currently ranked 9th in the division. If she can continue her run of wins in the UFC, it won’t be long before she finds herself fighting for the title. And at 27 years of age, Ribas has a lot of time left in the sport to realize her dreams.

Amanda Ribas reveals what it is like training with a former rival

In a recent interview, Mike Heck asked Ribas what it was like training with Paige VanZant at American Top Team who she fought the last time she stepped into the octagon.

She said, “Really different because my last camp was to fight against her. And now she is helping me in my camp. And I’m helping her for her boxing.”

The Brazilian fighter continued, “It’s amazing because we can show that it is professional. I’m not mad with her and she is not mad with me you know it’s professional. So if she can help me yes she will. If I can help her, yes I will. So we’re martial artists, we’re not crazy people throwing punches… It’s amazing.”

Ribas last fought in July this year when she took on ‘’12 Gauge’’. It took Amanda less than one round to submit her opponent and in the process, move up to 4-0 in the UFC.

For VanZant, this would be her last fight in the UFC as she signed with BareKnuckle boxing shortly after teasing free agency. It is refreshing to see two former rivals helping each other in their respective careers as true martial artists. Ribas now puts her unbeaten streak on the line against Marina Rodriguez next month on Fight Island on January 23rd.
