Jon Jones is one of the greatest fighters in the UFC. He is in strong contention for the ‘GOAT’ title; however, his transgressions outside the octagon have tarnished his reputation and is something that most fans believe has cost him the opportunity to become the greatest of all time.

Jones’ accomplishments inside the octagon are undeniable. He is the youngest ever champion in the promotion’s history and holds multiple records in the light heavyweight division.

He now aims to add his name to a list of select few fighters who have won belts in two divisions, as he aims to move up in weight to challenge Stipe Miocic for his belt.

Jon Jones trolls Israel Adesanya; says a fight against him does nothing for his legacy

Jon Jones has been pretty active on Twitter over the past few hours, answering questions from fans. One such fan tweeted, saying a fight against Jon Jones does more for Adesanya’s legacy than it does for Jones’ legacy.

Jones replied saying, “Outside of a gigantic payday, he does nothing for me. Anderson was the man to beat in that weight class, not him. The next biggest legacy move for me is Stipe and I want all the smoke”

Jone made his intentions of moving up to heavyweight clear in another tweet when he rubbished the idea of Israel Adesanya being a bigger name than him.

He said, “You’re joking right? I’ve been making millions since my early 20s, I don’t need a super fight with anyone. Fighting guys like Jan and Izzy does nothing for my legacy, winning the Heavyweight belt is the only thing that can bring me any higher than I already am”

‘Bones’ was open to a fight with ‘Izzy’; however, ‘The Last Style Bender’ did not pursue the idea as he wanted to establish himself at 185 pounds before moving up.

With recent developments, fans and pundits alike thought that Jones would stick around at light heavyweight to fight Israel Adesanya.

A win against a talented fighter in Israel Adesanya would look impressive on Jones’ resume; however, a second belt would put him in the upper echelons of UFC greats.

A second belt would cement his position as the best to ever do it, if he can beat the greatest heavyweight ever in Stipe Miocic.
