The UFC is widely regarded as the premier MMA promotion in the world. Ever since its inception, the promotion headed by Dana White and the Fertitta brothers has placed an emphasis on finding and recruiting talent from all around the world and providing a platform for fighters to establish themselves. In order to do so, the UFC monitors developing talent from different parts in different promotions. A fighter is then signed if he or she stands out. Conor McGregor is a perfect example of the same.

Furthermore, shows such as The Ultimate Fighter, Dana White’s Looking For a Fight, and Dana White’s Contender Series help build up-and-coming fighters in the promotion. However, not everyone sees it the same way. Former UFC referee John McCarthy lashed out at Dana White for making an outlandish claim, saying that no other promotion is creating stars the way the UFC is.

is John McCarthy right in his assessment about Dana White and the UFC?

He said, “It’s just not true because does the UFC sign fighters from the PFL? Does the UFC sign fighters from Bellator? Yup, so what’s he doing? Why are you signing those fighters? You’re the one that’s creating them? You’re not creating anything. If there’s one promotion that doesn’t create fighters for the most part [it’s the UFC].”

McCarthy continued, “UFC doesn’t do that. They’re getting their talent from somebody else. They’re getting it from LFA a lot of the time, which is great, that’s smart. To sit there and to say that, ‘Oh the Dana White Contender Series, that’s creating new talent,’ are you f**king high? You just signed Njokuani, Chidi Njokuani who has been with everyone and you’re saying, ‘Oh we’re signing the newest hot talent.’ Now that’s taking nothing from Chidi. I love Chidi, he’s a great guy but Chidi’s been with everybody and he’s a tough fighter but you’re not signing the new top talent.”(h/t middleeasy.com)
