Ashley Yoder Says She Was Disappointed With Her Performance at UFC Fight Night

Ashley Yoder secured the eighth win of her professional MMA career. The 33-year-old ‘Spider Monkey‘ tyrannized Miranda Granger to secure to claim a unanimous decision victory.

Yoder stuck a rear-naked choke on Granger in the last seconds of the final round, but failed to submit her. Nevertheless, it wasn’t a last gasp effort but more a stamp of her dominance. She stepped out after having her arm raised courtesy of a 30-26, 29-27 & 29-27 scoreline.

‘Spider Monkey’ controlled the octagon with 62% significant strikes and two takedowns. She tried taking the fight to the ground and was fairly successful in the same.

In her post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, ‘Spider Monkey’ said, “Every fight is different with me. Sometimes I am an elite striker, and then sometimes you see my ground excel. Through & through I love Jiu-Jitsu so much and learning MMA in total, you know I started as an MMA fighter and I plan to be like that till the day I die.

Yoder came off two consecutive losses and was in desperate need of a win. Now, she will look to build on her performance in her next fight.

What’s next for Ashley Yoder?

The ‘Spider Monkey’ is currently unranked in the women’s strawweight division of the UFC. In order to get one, she will have to be active and fight frequently, and secure as many wins as possible. Despite her impressive showing, she will have to polish up on her wrestling and powerful striking to move up in the division.

Her next fight can be a probable bout against Mizuki Inoue or Felice Herrig, as both these contenders have lost their last bouts and will look for a solid contender to move up in the rankings.
