Bellator President Scott Coker is not interested in signing former middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The legendary mixed martial artist announced his retirement soon after a TKO loss over Uriah Hall early this month. Silva took on Hall in his last fight for the promotion despite having two-more fights in his UFC contract. However, Spider stated that he wishes to continue his career. He also teased a potential move to other promotions. Needless to say, many fight fans believed that Silva would eventually move to Bellator.

However, that won’t be the case. Silva has already announced his retirement. However, even if there was a tinge of hope that the Spider could make a return, that won’t be the case. Speaking to MMA Junkie, Coker shared his thoughts on Anderson Silva.

“I have a lot of respect for him. He’s definitely one of the greatest fighters in the history of mixed martial arts. I really haven’t thought about it, but I think I’m happy with the way our roster is heading and the fighters that we have now, I think that’s my statement on that.”

Anderson Silva has only one win in his last seven outings inside the Octagon. While he has fared against the absolute best that the division has to offer, Silva just hasn’t been the mixed martial artist we have growing up watching.

Anderson Silva is the GOAT

Many fight fans believe that Silva should have moved to Bellator soon after his first loss inside the UFC Octagon. While taking nothing away from Bellator, it can be argued that the level of competition there would have given more time to Silva in healing from his brutal injuries.

However, Silva competed against the likes of Nick Diaz, Daniel Cormier, and Israel Adesanya among others in the latter stage of his career. Be that as it may, there’s no doubt that Anderson Silva will go down as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. Additionally, his championship reign as the undisputed middleweight king will remain unparalleled for years to come.
