UFC Lightweight fighter Beneil Dariush is preparing for the biggest clash of his career against veteran Tony Ferguson this Saturday at UFC 262. But it is not the only big thing happening in his life. The Assyrian-American and his wife are expecting a daughter soon, and the fighter can’t wait for his first glimpse of his daughter.

“I have been talking to her and singing and I can feel her when she kicks, so I’m excited to meet her. The fight happens and my baby comes.”

He further states how people have been asking him which is more exciting, the fight or the baby. “So people keep asking me what you are most excited for? The fight or the baby? I’m like man, I had lots of fights, I have never held my own baby,” he said.

“Well, I’m not giving birth, so probably I’m excited for the baby. I have so much responsibility, but it is so motivating. And the joy of it is so powerful, I can’t wait to fight,” he concluded.

Beneil Dariush on his strategy against Ferguson

Dariush is brimming with confidence after picking 6 straight victories. He has some notable wins against quality opponents, like Diego Ferreira and Drakkar Klose. But a match-up with ‘El Cucuy’ is different than all his previous fights. The former interim lightweight champion comes in the category of elite fighters.

Dariush is aware of the aura and challenge in front of him. He detailed his plan on how he would tackle Ferguson when they lock horns.

“Tony, he’s either number one or number two as the best lightweights of all time. And for everything he brings for me, I have to bring back two or three,” he said.

He further says he will be wild as Ferguson himself has that nature and will trade blows for blows.

“I have to make sure I put some hurt on him, so he doesn’t want to trade. And that’s how the fight has to be. I have to just make sure he’s got nothing for me,” he concluded.

Ferguson is under the pump as he is on a two-match slide, but it’s never too late for a great fighter like him to make a comeback. Dariush, on the other hand, will be looking at the title picture next if he goes past ‘El Cucuy’.
