Rafael dos Anjos is regarded by many as one of the best in the lightweight division. The former UFC lightweight champion has been out of action since November 2020 when he took on Paul Felder on short notice and secured a split-decision win.

Earlier this year it was announced that ‘RDA’ would undergo a sports hernia surgery which would rule him out for the better part of three months. ‘RDA’ had been suffering from pain for a long time and finally decided to get surgery to fix his health issues, as this would help him compete at the highest levels once again.

Dos Anjos provided fans an update as he posted a picture with the caption, “3 months post surgery, I’m officially back to business #RDA2.0” on Twitter. The former lightweight champion looks in good shape as he prepares to return to action.

Who could welcome Rafael dos Anjos back to the lightweight division?

The lightweight division in the UFC is one of the most talent-stacked divisions. The top 15 is stacked with some incredible names and ‘RDA’ will look to make one of those names his next opponent.

Dos Anjos is currently ranked 7th in the division. Most of the men ranked above him are either booked for a fight or are slated to fight someone. Beneil Dariush and Tony Ferguson are two names that are not booked or slated to fight anyone at this point in time. A fight against Tony Ferguson would make sense for both men.

Ferguson is currently on a three-fight skid and has looked abysmal in his recent outings. As he will aim to get back into the win column, there is no better opponent than one he beat en route to his 12-fight win streak.

Meanwhile, ‘RDA’ bounced back into the win column with his win over Felder after a two-fight skid. A fight against ‘El Cucuy’ would be an excellent opportunity to avenge his loss from November 2016 and also extend his win streak to 2-0 in the UFC.
