Brandon Moreno is having the time of his life right now. The 27-years-old is the reigning UFC Flyweight champion and to top it off he is also no. 10 on the UFC pound-for-pound rankings. As a result, “The Assasin Baby” also became the first Mexican-born fighter to achieve this feat.

However, he still has a long way to go. The Mexican has a trilogy match lined up against his long-time foe and former UFC Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 270 on 22nd January. The location for their third bout will be Anaheim, California.

But the champion has some unfinished business outside the Octagon as well. As his long-time friend and mentor, Henry Cejudo invited his opponent, Figueiredo, to train at his camp.

In a conversation with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour show, Moreno addressed the matter, “A lot of drama. To be honest with you, when I hear that the first time I was a little sad. A little bit disappointment but, you know fake people… fake things you know. Definitely, he has his own version of history. I have my own version of my history, just the people can judge that. But now I don’t care man, I don’t care. If Henry Cejudo want to help Figueiredo to this trilogy, I think he need it because he need to do something different for this fight because last fight was horrible for him.”

Brandon Moreno and his crazy past with “Triple C”

In the early stage of his career, “Triple C” mentored and looked after Moreno when he was away from his home. Cejudo provided him with food and accommodation and also supported his family during the birth of his eldest daughter.

Things soon turned sour when Moreno entered the Ultimate Fighter where Henry Cejudo was ready to pit his team against Joseph Benavidez. But “The Messenger” dropped Moreno from his team and brought in Alexandre Pantoja instead.

Ultimately, “The Assassin Baby”, changed ship and went to train with Benavidez himself. Who was, in contrast, respectful towards him. “I went to Benavidez’s team and I need to be very clear at that point. The training with Benavidez was good. He was very respectful with me and helped me a lot too. It was a sad part of my life.” the Mexican told Ariel Helwani.

But Moreno’s decision did not thrill Cejudo, who labeled him a traitor for changing teams.
