Nick Diaz is back in action this week. The elder Diaz brother last fought in January 2015 in a bout against ‘The Spider’ Anderson Silva. He has been out of action since then. Although both fans and pundits alike were initially skeptical of a potential return for Nick Diaz, the doubts were quickly dispelled as a rematch with Robbie Lawler was made official in no time.
This is a rematch 17-years in the making as the two men first fought at UFC 47. Diaz stopped Lawler in the second round of the fight to extend his win streak to 4-0 in the UFC at the time. With the fight inching closer, there has been a significant change made to the bout.

The fight between Diaz and Lawler will now take place at 185-pounds instead of the 170-pound which was initially agreed upon. However, the fight will still be a five-round affair. This will only be the second time in the promotion’s history that a fight that isn’t a title fight or main event is a five-round affair. The first one being Nate Diaz vs Leon Edwards at UFC 263.

A closer look at Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler
Nick Diaz, much like his younger brother, is a pressure fighter. He has an unending gas tank that allows him to push the fight at an insane pace for the duration of the fight. Going into the fight, Diaz will have a two-inch reach advantage that will definitely play a role in the fight.
Diaz is predominantly a volume puncher and has landed on average 5.43 significant strikes per minute in his UFC career thus far. However, he absorbs 3.56 significant strikes per minute, which is a cause for concern against ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler.
