The coronavirus pandemic has canceled yet another fight. At UFC Vegas 22, the co-main event between Brad Riddell and Gregor Gillespie was scrapped. The knock-on effects of the same have meant that next week’s 145-pound title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega is also off.
Number two ranked Ortega was set to take on the champion at UFC 260 as one of two title fights on the night. Riddell happens to be teammates with champion Alexander Volkanovski. Since his bout was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, his teammate’s fight has also been canceled to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
The fight will be postponed to a later date. However, at this point in time, neither a tentative date nor venue has been fixed.
