The matchups are coming in thick and fast as the UFC prepares to sort out the second half of the calendar year. One of these planned fights is between two of the most dangerous knockout artists at 205-pounds. On October 2, Thiago Santos will take on fellow light heavyweight Johnny Walker.

As the fight will be the main event of the night, it is scheduled for five rounds. However, there is a very strong possibility it will not go the distance, given the knockout power both men possess.

Santos and Walker are ranked fourth and tenth respectively in the UFC’s light heavyweight rankings. While a win for the former will move him closer to title contention, a win for the latter will see him rise into prominence at 205.

Thiago Santos vs Jonny Walker will be an explosive affair

Johnny Walker burst onto the scene on Dana White’s Contender Series with a win over Henrique da Silva. He then followed that up with three jaw-dropping knockout wins over the likes of Khalil Rountree Jr, Justin Ledet, and Misha Cirkunov. Walker then succumbed to two successive losses for the first time in his career against Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov.

However, the Brazilian fighter bounced back into the win column with a triumph over Ryan Spann in his latest outing.

Santos, on the other hand, reached the pinnacle of the sport in July 2019 when he fought Jon Jones for the light heavyweight belt. However, he fell short in the close fight. Ever since then, the results have not gone his way (‘Marreta’ is on a three-fight skid at the moment). Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira, and Aleksandar Rakić are the three fighters he has come up short against in his recent outings.

As a fourth-straight loss in the UFC might be detrimental to Santos’ career, he will be aiming to get back into the win column. However, it will be easier said than done, considering he is taking on a tough assignment against a talented knockout artist in Johnny Walker
