UFC Vegas 31 kicked off in style with some epic fights on the preliminary card. Amanda Lemos vs Montserrat Ruiz was one such fight. The two women competed in the strawweight division at UFC Vegas 31. Lemos is currently ranked 14th in the division, whereas Ruiz is unranked.
Going into the fight, Lemos came in on the back of a three-fight win streak. Ruiz, on the other hand, was on a two-fight win streak. While a win for Ruiz would have seen her break into the top 15, a win for Lemos would have seen her break into the top 10.
Unfortunately for Ruiz, the fight was over before she knew it as Lemos secured a knockout win in under one minute of the very first round.

The fight started off well with both women feeling each other out. However, as the fight continued, Lemos began landing with more precision and venom behind her shots. The finishing sequence saw Ruiz rushing into Lemos’ range. The Brazilian fighter quickly moved out of the way and landed a beautiful check right hook.

The punch stunned Ruiz who fell to the floor. As soon as Ruiz hit the floor, Lemos pounced on her opponent and landed a few shots on the ground before the referee stepped in and called the fight. ‘Conejo’ was still disoriented after she got back to her feet and could not comprehend that the referee had called the fight off.
During the course of the fight, Lemos landed just 7 total strikes with an impressive accuracy of 54%. Her striking technique and accuracy were a treat to the eyes.

‘Amandinha’ is now on a four-fight win streak, with three of the four wins ending in finishes. She will most definitely break into the top 10 when the revised rankings are published. Given her streak and impressive win, she will look to secure a fight with a higher-ranked opponent in her next octagon appearance.
