This Saturday’s co-main event of UFC Vegas 33 got scratched after the heavyweight, Shamil Abdurakhimov pulled out from his match against Chris Daukaus. The reason for the pullout by the former is still undisclosed.

This became the second match after Sam Alvey vs. Roman Kopylov to be canceled. Unlike the former, the reason to pull out of this match is known as Kopylov could not get a visa in time for the event. Thus, the event will now begin with 13 fights on the overall card.

This withdrawal will pile up the pressure on the Dagestani fighter. He has seen his matchups getting either postponed or scrapped completely because of one reason or another.

He could have faced Daukaus at UFC Vegas 31 event, but because of COVID-19 safety protocols in place for his team, the bout got postponed. This is not it. He would have faced Augusto Sakai at UFC Vegas 25, but his visa issues played the spoilsport.

A pair of bookings against interim title challenger Ciryl Gane too got canceled. First because of Gane’s illness, and the second one when he withdrew for unknown reasons.

Now, his opponent, Daukaus, has taken to Twitter and lashed out at him for missing their fight again. He also urged UFC to remove him from rankings.

He wrote, “A guy who’s had two years of rest felt too weak to fight. Pull him from the rankings and give me his spot. Anyone else in the top ten also too weak to fight me?”

How Shamil Abdurakhimov and Chris Dakaus would have entered their fight?

The Dagestani native hasn’t competed inside the octagon since 2019. He last fought against Curtis Blaydes on September 7th, 2019, at UFC 242. He lost the fight via TKO in the second round. Prior to that, he had picked up two successive wins.

First up, he fought Andrei Arlovski on September 15th, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 136 and won the fight by unanimous decision. Next, he faced Marcin Tybura on April 20, 2019, at UFC Fight Night 149. He won the fight via TKO in the second round.

It would have a spectacular matchup if not for the pull-out. Now, it’s up to UFC on how they want to go ahead with this. Either they could reschedule or forfeit once it for all.
