Cody Garbrandt feels he is a matador and Deiveson Figueiredo is a bull

In a recent interview, Brett Okamoto of ESPN asked Cody how he felt about his move down to flyweight and how he sees himself match up against the champion.

‘No Love’ said, “I’m just excited for the future, obviously get healthy first. See how the fight with Deiveson and Brandon plays out, I feel like he is going to run over that kid. That’s another lamb being brought into the slaughterhouse. And that’s fine, like I said, let him build that hype up. Let him build up the holy s**t this kid is the real deal until you bring a real deal into the fight.”

The former bantamweight champion continued, “There is going to be no backing down with me. I’m excited for this fight. I feel like he is a bull and I am a matador. But when I want to be the bull, I can be the bull, but he can’t be a matador….. He’s too flat-footed, he stands like this. You have your hands low on me I’m going to tune you up. I’m gonna give you that Jorge Masvidal three-piece and a soda”

Cody is immensely talented. However, injuries and not being able to control his emotions during the fight saw him suffer three back-to-back defeats.

Just when things started to look up for the former champion with a stellar buzzer-beating KO over Assuncao, injuries have once again put him on the sidelines.

MMA fans will be hoping that ‘No Love’ can heal up as soon as possible and take on the ‘God Of War’ as early as possible next year, assuming he gets past Brandon Moreno. Does Cody Garbrandt have the game to beat Deiveson Figueiredo?
