Colby Covington has been putting a lot of his former training partners on notice. Being a part of the infamous American Top Team, ‘Chaos’ was in the middle of one of the best gyms for MMA training. That gave him years of knowledge to build on, but he then left the team because the focus was too ‘team-oriented’. Colby also met former best friend Jorge Masvidal at ATT, and the pair would often spar. Even Tyron Woodley stopped by a few times.
When asked about his sparring sessions with Woodley and Masvidal on Submission Radio, Colby responded in classic Colby fashion. However, it did start resembling a wrestling promo by the end of it.

“100% my sparring sessions with Street Judas Jorge Masvidal. They were violent. He was unconscious multiple times. I left Woodley in a pool of his blood and unconscious once or twice, but Jorge Masvidal, it was ten times the effect on him. I mean, he’s just the easier fighter. He’s a little guy, he’s got no heart, he’s a front-runner, I know how he fights and emotional more importantly. It would be so violent, I feel so bad when he’d have to leave in a body bag. Well no, I wouldn’t feel bad because he’s a piece of shit person, he’s a dirt bag and he did turn his back on me for no reason.”

Colby Covington and his split from ATT
One of the biggest talking points about Colby’s MMA persona has been how his real relationships changed because of it. The members of ATT would attest to that, as Colby was destined to exit the team. He left on his own terms and formed Colby Covington Inc. If he didn’t, he probably would have been kicked out.

Covington’s biggest gripe with ATT has become the presence of Jorge Masvidal. Even this interview started resembling more of a shoot promo from the WWE. However, every time the former interim welterweight champion talks to the media, it is a shoot promo. It’ll be interesting to see if this fight happens and Covington can prove what he says. He clearly backed up his words against Tyron Woodley last week at UFC Fight Night 178.
