Gilbert Burns fell short against Kamaru Usman in his very first title fight in the UFC. ‘Durinho’ started the fight really well and had ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ hurt early in the first round. However, the champion came back stronger in round three and finished the fight to defend his belt in spectacular fashion.

Most fighters take some time off after falling in a title fight, but not Burns. Ever since the loss, ‘Durinho’ has maintained that he would like to get back into the octagon as soon as possible and work his way to the top. In the 170-pound division, there is no dearth of top talent that can challenge Burns.

Can Gilbert Burns bounce back into the win column?

Burns recently took to Twitter to share good news with his fans. He said, “We looking for June! 2 guys said yes! Colby said no! I said yes for both waiting for the UFC now @AliAbdelaziz00 #TheComeBack”

Colby Covington is a man in demand amongst welterweights. The likes of Burns, Edwards, and Thompson among others have called ‘Chaos’ out. The former interim champion, however, in a recent interview revealed that he would be willing to fight anyone if the price was right. He stated that this was the reason he turned down a short-notice fight against Leon Edwards at UFC Vegas 21.

However, based on recent results, either Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson or Leon Edwards should be next for ‘Durinho’. Given the June timeline, fans would not be wrong in thinking that ‘Wonderboy’ would be one of the two.

Edwards fought just last week and although it was a no-contest, he stated he has no interest in fighting Muhammad again. ‘Wonderboy’ on the other hand extended his win streak to 2-0 after impressive wins over the likes of Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal. Either fight will be an extremely interesting bout in the welterweight division.
