UFC lightweight maestros Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor are set for a blockbuster trilogy bout at UFC 264 come July 10. The two of the best in the division will collide for the second in this year with the rivalry tied at 1 win and the same number of losses for both of them.

McGregor, who is busy preparing for his fight, has gone to Dubai for the same. The southpaw and his wife recently welcomed home a baby boy whom they named Rian McGregor. They were already proud parents to a 4-year-old son Conor Jr and a 2-year-old daughter Croia.

To share the good news, the ‘Notorious’ had taken to Instagram and penned a note along with a picture holding his newborn.

“The McGregor Clan is now a family of 5. Healthy baby boy delivered! Baby and Mammy Wonder Woman are doing great! God I thank you for everything you give to me and my family in this world. My new born son, Rían McGregor,” he wrote.

His opponent, ‘Diamond’ Poirier, appeared in an interview where he talked about his upcoming match and its preparation. He then congratulated McGregor and his wife, Dee Devlin, for their wonderful moment.

“This morning (May 17), his (Conor) wife gave birth to their third child, so congratulations to McGregor’s family. Glad to hear everything went well,” he said.

Poirier fought McGregor at UFC 257 in the rematch from 2014. The previous one saw domination from McGregor as he picked up a KO win over the former. However, tables turned dramatically at UFC 257 with Poirier demolishing McGregor via TKO win in round 2 after almost breaking his leg with a barrage of kicks in the first round.

Poirier (27-6) is the number 1 ranked UFC lightweight fighter. It is also safe to assume that he is the best lightweight in the world. It was a certainty that he would have fought for the coveted belt left vacant by the departure of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

However, ‘Diamond’ chose to end his rivalry with McGregor once and for all. So that gave an opportunity to Chandler and Oliveira to battle out for the belt at UFC 262 and Oliveira became the champion, eventually.

It is a given that the winner of Poirier vs McGregor would fight for the title next. McGregor is always a wild card when it comes to title fights and Poirier is the number 1 ranked fighter in the division.

Regardless of the outcome, the hype, the buildup, and the match itself are going to be exciting for millions of fans around the world. The only question is, who will attain the bragging rights in the end?
