Conor McGregor is without a doubt the biggest name in the UFC and also one of the biggest names in sports period. ‘The Notorious’ orchestrated his growth perfectly from a promising talent to a world champion capable of selling millions of pay-per-views. His showdown with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 generated a whopping 2.4 million PPV buys, the most in the company’s history. 

Furthermore, of the top 10 best-selling PPVs in UFC history, McGregor has been a part of seven. This clearly shows why he is also the highest-paid athlete in the promotion. Over the years, McGregor has monetized his fame well and has been a part of different business ventures which have added to his ever-growing fortune.

Is Conor McGregor on the path to billionaire status?

Ahead of his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202, world-famous football star Cristiano Ronaldo stopped by to meet ‘The Notorious’. During their exchange, McGregor promised Ronaldo that he would topple him as the highest-paid athlete in the world in a few years. ‘The Notorious’ made good on his promise as Forbes placed him on the number one spot for the highest-earning athletes of 2021. 

It was reported that Conor McGregor made a whopping $180 million. However, a huge portion of that came from the sale of his stake in Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey to Proximo Spirits. It was reported that his stake was worth $150 million. This meant that McGregor made $30 million from the UFC.

It involved McGregor in various other businesses, such as clothing, training programs, video games, and pubs among other businesses. Therefore, it is safe to say that this will not be the last time we see McGregor among the highest-paid athletes in the world.
