Conor McGregor Reveals the Toughest Fighter He’s Ever Faced

The rivalry between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor was an extremely unlikely one. However, it developed into one of the biggest rivalries in the sport has ever seen. In his first attempt to win a belt at 155 pounds, McGregor was matched up against Rafael dos Anjos. However, as dos Anjos pulled out, the UFC scrambled to get a replacement. 

Nate Diaz stepped in and took the fight at the 170 pounds weight limit, which was two weight classes above for Conor at the time. Though ‘The Notorious’ lost the fight, MMA fans witnessed the birth of one of the most exciting rivalries that is yet to be completed.

Conor McGregor put out the ‘AskNotorious’ hashtag. This was followed by a flurry of questions from eager fans. One such fan asked ‘The Notorious’ his thoughts on Nate Diaz. Conor replied, “Excellent fighter! The trilogy will be of epic proportions when it goes down. Nathan, and his fighting styles, are never far from my thoughts throughout my own practices. When it happens, I’m ready.”

The first fight between the two men did not go the distance as a drained Conor McGregor was choked out in the second round of the fight.

The second fight, however, was one of the most exciting five-round fights in the UFC. A bloody back and forth between two of the very best at what they do. In a separate question, the Irish superstar also stated that Nate Diaz “The west coast zombie” was the toughest opponent he had ever faced.

MMA fans have been desperate for the trilogy to take place. The third fight is something that Dana, Conor, and Nate are all in for. After a three year lay-off, Diaz had two fights in 2019. McGregor returned to the octagon in early 2020 but was not able to book a second fight in 2020.
