The Heavyweight division in the UFC is extremely exciting at the moment, more so than ever before. At the top, stands arguably the greatest heavyweight champion of all time in Stipe Miocic, and below, a host of hungry challengers in Jon Jones, Curtis Blaydes, Derrick Lewis, and Francis Ngannou awaiting their chance to be crowned the ‘Baddest Man on The Planet’.

The addition of Jon Jones into heavyweight has caused quite a stir. The former light heavyweight champion aims to add his name to an exclusive list of fighters to have won belts in two divisions. Winning a belt at heavyweight would solidify his status as the ‘GOAT’.

Jon Jones vs Curtis Blaydes is the fight to make, according to Daniel Cormier

In a recent episode of ‘DC’ and Helwani, the two men discussed the situation at heavyweight. ‘DC’ said, “Jones needs a heavyweight fight. I say move Blaydes to Jones…. Lewis vs Rozenstruik. Those are two real good fights…. It makes all the sense in the world because, Jones beats Blaydes, nobody will ever say he does not belong at heavyweight. If Blaydes beats Jones, he has beaten the greatest of all time in many people’s minds.”

The former two-division champion continued, “I think this is what you do. Plus Derrick Lewis…. If Derrick Lewis fights Jairzinho Rozenstruik, they’re going to be standing and banging. In that small octagon. This makes all the sense in the world!”

Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes were supposed to fight each other as the main event last weekend. The fight got called off as ‘Razor’ tested positive for COVID-19. The fight between the two men would have decided the next contender after Francis, given both men are on stellar win-streaks at the moment.

While it is certain that ‘Bones’ is moving up in weight, it is not known whether he will take a tune-up fight or he will be offered the title shot right away.
