Ciryl Gane is one of the fastest0rising fighters in the UFC right now. Despite being just 7-0 as a fighter, Gane is fighting the top fighters in the UFC Heavyweight division. He just got past former champion and one of the greats in Junior Dos Santos. He is facing Jairzinho Rizenstruik tomorrow in a battle that will earn the winner a top-five spot in the rankings.

However, Gane will always seem inexperienced due to his record at the level he is. Despite getting a bunch of UFC wins, it still sticks out. As a result, Gane is still just completing his transition to the sport. He revealed that Jon Jones is actually one of his favorite fighters to watch and is someone that he wants to fight in his career.

Sometimes idols have to become your rivals. While Gane seems to be on a rise right now, facing Jon Jones at this stage in his career would be bad for him. He is clearly deferring to the legend and is being reasonable and accepting his status for what it is.

However, if Jones is actually serious about being a Heavyweight, he may need to start keeping an eye on Gane. A win over Jairzinho can set him up for a major contender’s fight. But the danger that Rozenstruik poses with his one-punch power will be something that will be a little hard for Gane to avoid over the course of a fight.

Gane still has relatively rudimentary skills, but has great instincts and movement. The skill-set was on display when he beat JDS just a few months back as well. However, Jon Jones is one of the greatest and Gane still has a career to build. This fight may happen, but definitely down the line.
