Kamaru Usman is on the road to be one of the greatest fighters of all time. Considering the record he has already accumulated as a fighter in the UFC, it is hard to question his status as one of the greatest already. He has almost cleaned out the Welterweight division and is now re-matching old opponents to emphasize his greatness.
Usman is catching up to Georges St-Pierre, who has long been considered almost untouchable atop the Welterweight pantheon. But according to Dana White in a conversation with Yahoo Sports, Usman is well on his way to being the greatest already.

“I love Usman, he has done great. To be one of the greatest ever, obviously, he’s got a little more time here to surpass GSP. But look at what he’s done, look at what he’s accomplished. Look at who he has fought. Not only did he beat all these guys, but now he’s circling back and facing these guys for a second time to put a stamp on them. Many would argue that Usman has done it against better competition, as the depth of the division is considered better now. But GSP had genuine super-fights against the likes of BJ Penn and Matt Hughes. Usman is yet to have one of those rivalries.

While Usman vs Jorge Masvidal or Colby Covington is a good story, it doesn’t match what GSP was doing with Penn and Hughes in terms of impact. But UFC 261 is expected to be a million-buy card because of how people are investing in Usman and Masvidal. There is a real chance that Usman stands tall as the GOAT one day.
