

Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua is without a doubt one of the greatest mixed martial artists ever. The former Pride champion has shared the octagon with some of the greatest fighters ever and has more often than not come out on top. He is also a former light heavyweight champion in the UFC, having won the belt at UFC 113, knocking out Lyoto Machida.

However, the past few fights in the UFC have not gone his way. In his last five fights in the UFC, he has two wins, two losses, and one draw. Most recently, he suffered a devastating TKO loss against Paul Craig. MMA fans felt that it would be his last fight. However, an official announcement was never released.

Following his loss to Craig, many fans believed that Rua would call it a day based on his statement released on Instagram. ‘Shogun’ revealed a list of injuries and said that he would have to discuss his fighting future with his family.

Despite the statement released, there was never an official announcement from Rua and his team.
If this is indeed an end, it draws the curtains on a fantastic career that has seen the Brazilian become a champion in multiple organizations. He has also secured wins over notable fighters such as Alistair Overeem, Lyoto Machida, and Chuck Liddell among others.
