Daniel Cormier was easily one of the best fighters in the modern era of MMA. While he hung up his gloves after a consecutive loss to Stipe Miocic, he has transitioned seamlessly into MMA journalism. Cormier has his own show with Ariel Helwani on ESPN, where the pair often discuss the most pressing matter in MMA.

In one of their latest clips, Cormier and Helwani discussed PFL Fighter Kayla Harrison going to Invicta for a one-time bout at Featherweight. Here’s what DC said about a potential super fight against Amanda Nunes.

“I wouldn’t force her in with Amanda right away. You can take your time. Even if she came to the UFC, you give her a couple of fights. Match her up with Felicia Spencer, Megan Anderson. You can’t discredit Megan because she’s fighting for the championship next. So you don’t know if at that point she’ll be the champ.

“I think you take a little bit of time with Kayla, give her a little bit of time to mature in the fight game, and see what she can really become. What we don’t want is for her to be a one-trick pony at the top of the sport, because that’s when they get exposed.”

Nunes had to drop out of her scheduled UFC 256 Featherweight title defense against Megan Anderson because of undisclosed reasons. Harrison will face Courtney King at Invicta FC 43.

While Harrison is progressing well, Amanda Nunes is the greatest women’s fighter of all time.

Defeating Nunes will be a tall order for any elite talent, and Harrison is just that. However, her relative MMA inexperience and the need to cut down to a weight like 145 pounds will have some impact. However, this move to 145 is a clear indication to the UFC, as they do not have a 155-pound division for female fighters.

Nunes vs Harrison may be on the bill down the line, but right now, the tides don’t seem to be going that way.
