Darren Elkins Secures an Impressive Second Round Stoppage Win Over Darrick Minner at UFC Vegas 32

Darren Elkins took on Darrick Minner in an exciting featherweight clash on the main card at UFC Vegas 32: Dillashaw vs Sandhagen. Going into the fight, both men were unranked in the UFC’s featherweight division. While Minner was on a two-fight win streak, Elkins had just won his last fight after losing four in a row. 

After a rough and bloody start, it was ‘The Damage’ who was able to secure a finish in the second round of the fight. Darren ‘The Damage’ proved that at even 37, he has not lost a step and is still as dangerous as he used to be.

Darren Elkins puts on a striking masterclass against Darrick Minner 

The fight started out well for both men. It was Minner who was aggressive early in round one. He was able to secure a takedown and land some damage on the ground. This eventually led to a nasty cut on Elkins’ forehead, which gushed out blood. 

During the course of the fight, Elkins landed a mind-boggling 137 total strikes with an accuracy of 89%. He also landed 20 significant strikes with an accuracy of 67%. Furthermore, Elkins also secured a takedown in round two, which was the beginning of the end.

Elkins came out strong in round two and out-landed Minner. After a few scrambles on the ground, Elkins secured Minner’s back. He then unloaded a barrage of punches as Minner covered up. Minner, who could not defend himself, absorbed multiple unanswered shots. This forced the referee to step in and stop the fight.

‘The Damage’ seems to have caught a second wind after a four-fight skid that saw him lose to the likes of current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. With his recent performances, Elkins is now on an impressive two-fight win streak.

Interestingly, Darren Elkins’ win at UFC Vegas 32 was his 10th as an underdog in the UFC, breaking a tie with Neil Magny and Andrei Arlovski for the most since 2010.
