Darren Till started his career at welterweight. He was touted as one of the most promising talents at 170 pounds. An impressive run of four consecutive wins saw him fight for the welterweight title at UFC 228. However, he came up short against the then-dominant champion Tyron Woodley.

After his loss to Woodley, Till accepted a fight against Jorge Masvidal. He was knocked out in the second round and that saw him end his run at welterweight. After the defeat, he moved up to middleweight.

He started off his middleweight career with an impressive win over Kelvin Gastelum before losing to former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker at Fight Island. Recently, ‘The Gorilla’ took to Instagram to confirm that he was going to be moving up another weight class to 205-pounds.

Former light heavyweight title contender Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson is also slated to make a return next year to the same weight class. Till being the joker he is, posted a meme with respect to his recent announcement. He wrote, “Anthony rumble Johnson making a comeback really? F**k that light heavy weight move then.”

Can Darren Till realize his full potential at light heavyweight?

‘The Gorilla’ is not a small individual by any means. He stands at six feet. Therefore, it was truly astonishing as to how he made 170 pounds regularly. A move up to middleweight seemed well suited for him as he has performed well at 185-pounds.

Given that he was supposed to take on Jack Hermansson this weekend at middleweight, a move to light-heavyweight was unexpected. Till’s move to 205 pounds will be a welcome opportunity for the division, which is now under a new reign.
