In the post-fight press conference, Edson was asked what he thought made Khabib one of the best fighters in the world. He went on to say that ‘The Eagle’s’ mental toughness is what separates him from other fighters. The Brazilian fighter predicted the outcome of Nurmagomedov’s upcoming fight against Justin Gaethje.

He said, “I’m very excited for this fight. I think Gaethje is a great fighter too. He is definitely one of the best. I had the opportunity to fight both guys. They’re two of the best guys in the world.”

‘Junior’ continued, “I think it’s a 50-50 fight. It’s open, very open. It’s going to be a big war. I’m very excited.” Edson is one of the few fighters who has shared the octagon with both Gaethje and Nurmagomedov.

‘Junior’ first fought Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 219 in December 2017. Barboza went into the fight against an undefeated Khabib on the back of a three fight win streak. However, he was thoroughly outclassed by ‘The Eagle’ who used his wrestling and secured four takedowns. He had a control time of over 10 minutes and dished out a mind-boggling 154 total strikes.

Barboza faced Justin Gaethje in March 2019, but did not make it past the first round. As ‘Junior’ was circling away, Gaethje threw an overhand right that was on the button to knock him out cold.

Barboza has faced both the aforementioned fighters and made a prediction based on his experience. Do you agree with him? Is it a 50-50 fight between the two men?
