The UFC released former UFC title challenger Cat Zingano in 2019 after she declined a fighter offered to her. At the time, not much was known about why Zingano declined the fight. However, a recent lawsuit filed by ‘Alpha’ and her team provides a much-needed back story as to what exactly happened.
According to TMZ, Zingano and her team have filed a lawsuit against award-winning actress Halle Berry over a promised movie role. Zingano was being considered for a role in the film ‘Bruised’. The movie revolves around a disgraced MMA fighter who works her way back to the top after overcoming adversity.

It is alleged that Berry promised Zingano a role in the movie and asked her to clear a schedule, as filming would start soon. At the same time, the UFC offered Zingano a fight contract, which she declined in order to film the movie. Subsequently, ‘Alpha’ was released by the UFC.
Zingano later realized that she would not be playing a part in the movie since she was not a currently active UFC fighter, which is what the movie needed. Therefore, Zingano is suing Berry over damages.

During her stint with the UFC, Zingano fought seven times. Her record with the promotion was 3-4. After getting off to a perfect 2-0 start in the UFC with stoppage wins over Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate, Zingano was offered a title shot.
‘Alpha’ came up short against Ronda Rousey. After her fight with Rousey, Zingano won just one of her next three fights. A whole host of injuries plagued Zingano’s career, which did not allow her to fight as regularly as she would have liked.
