Francis Ngannou is a freak of nature. ‘The Predator’ is without a doubt one of the scariest men to have ever stepped into the octagon. Ngannou burst on to the scene with one spectacular knockout after another. That led him to a title shot. After coming up short against Stipe Miocic, he suffered a slump with another loss to Derrick Lewis in his very next fight.
After those two losses, Francis bounced back impressively to show his mettle. He is currently on a four-fight win streak. All of his wins have come via first-round KO with a combined time of a little over two minutes. ‘The Predator’ now awaits his next fight, which will most likely be against Stipe Miocic for the title.
In a recent interview, while speaking to Morning Kombat, Brian Campbell asked Francis about when fans could expect to see him back. He said, “Yeah, it is very complicated right now. Even before May fight, I was expecting a title fight. Then they told me that you know they have to do the trilogy between Stipe and DC… I was expecting that maybe I can fight in December it appears Stipe is not fighting until March… they told me this a month and a half ago. The only thing I have to do is wait till March for a fight.”
While speaking on losing motivation to train despite not knowing when he will fight next, Ngannou said, “We have to keep going, something to motivate us you know. We have to make money, we have to do anything while fighting. So when you don’t fight sometimes when you wake up it’s really hard to go to the gym. And to train because you need that motivation, okay I’m training, but for what? When will be the fight?….. You don’t have clue about anything so it’s tough to find motivation”
Stipe dominated Francis the first time the two men faced each other. ‘The Predator’ had to work his way back to the top to make sure he deserved a title shot, which is what he did.
The French-Cameroonian fighter should have had a title shot after his win over Junior dos Santos when he moved to 3-0. However, Stipe’s trilogy with ‘DC‘ meant that he had to cool his heels.
Instead of sitting around, Francis decided to take on Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who had called him out. It took him all of 20 seconds to stop ‘Bigi Boy’ and move to 4-0.
‘The Predator’ is patiently waiting for the champion to get ready. It appears the fight will take place early next year, which means Francis will be devoid of competition for close to a year, which is not ideal.
