Georges St-Pierre has taken to Twitter and stirred up a storm after making one tweet in which he has teased a massive announcement. The former UFC Welterweight and Middleweight Champion put up a picture of him in MMA training. The picture coupled with the new announcement tease has made everyone think the same thing.

It is time. Everybody wants to see the great Georges St-Pierre come back to the Octagon. After many rumors about him possibly returning for a super-fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Khabib retired and closed that chapter. However, the retirement has been questioned by many, including Khabib’s own manager and Dana White.

If GSP is making a return to the Octagon, there really doesn’t seem to be any other opponent than Khabib. He has achieved everything that he had to in the sport, and risking his legacy over a random MMA fight would be a very odd move by the Canadian fighter.

Georges St-Pierre: Is he really going to announce a return?

Even though it makes sense. Even though it is what everyone wants, it seems unlikely that this announcement is about an MMA return. While the tweet has got everyone hyped, that is precisely what he wanted. He hasn’t outwardly promised a return to MMA, so whatever announcement he makes will have eyes on it.

However, the soft confirmation of a new team for GSP is quite odd. Is it going to be him with a new endorsement, or is it gym-related? It is unlikely that GSP leaves his long-time coach Jonathan Chaimberg, so is he switching gyms with him? It is best if we wait for the announcement, as the speculation can drive us mad.

If this is a return to MMA, Khabib is the only fight for him. Any fight with GSP will sell, but if it isn’t the Khabib fight, there will always be what-ifs.

UPDATE: GSP has announced this is not a fight announcement.
