‘Have That Belt Spit Shined for Me’- Conor McGregor Sends a Warning to the UFC Lightweight Division

Conor McGregor suffered arguably the nastiest injury of his career at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier. ‘The Notorious’ broke his leg after a kick was checked by Dustin Poirier. The fight was unfortunately called off after round one as McGregor was in serious pain and unable to continue.  

Since then McGregor has undergone surgery and has had titanium rods fit in his leg in a surgery that took over three hours to complete. Following the incident, McGregor provided an update for his fans and stated that he would be back in action in no time. 

Recently McGregor took to Twitter to put out a bold statement. He said, “Have that belt spit shined for me.”. He also added, “Jumping a guillotine is not a takedown. Absorbing the kick into the leg is not a check. A doctor stoppage is not a tko. The game goes on bitches. Piss ants to me yous all are. Not even peasants. Piss ants! Now get to your stationed vlogger cameras you novice bums!”

McGregor had been spending a large portion of his training camp alone with his team in California without his family around him. After the injury, McGregor made sure his family came over to the United States so he could spend time with them. ‘The Notorious’ was recently spotted enjoying time off from the sport at a Justin Bieber concert.

Updates provided by Dana White suggest that Conor McGregor will be out for the better part of a year. He anticipates McGregor to be out for about 9 months following which he will. White predicted that fans would most likely see McGregor compete in 2022 towards the tail-end of the year. McGregor is still the biggest name in the UFC despite recent losses. He proved that once again with a massively successful PPV event against Dustin Poirier where the pair sold just under 2 million PPVs which is the second most in UFC history. McGregor has now been a part of seven of the top 10 most successful PPVs ever.
