Jon Jones has been out of action since his win over Dominick Reyes in February 2020. Shortly after the win, Jones vacated the light heavyweight belt and stated that he would be going up a weight class. However, issues with the UFC and issues in his personal life have meant that Jones has been out of action for the better part of two years now.
However, if recent reports are to be believed, Jon Jones is ready to take on the winner of the heavyweight unification bout taking place in January. In a recent interview with Robbie Fox, White provided an update on Jon Jones. He said, “So Jones wants to fight next year, we all know that. So we’re rolling up on next year, the big heavyweight fight is going to happen in January, which I am super excited for and then we’ll see what Jon wants to do.”ADVERTISEMENT

When asked if Jones would need a warm-up fight or could be given a title shot right away, White replied, “I have no idea. But yeah, he would be a guy that you could throw right in there. I mean, many people believe he is the GOAT man, that he is the best. And realistically, when you look at him, he is undefeated. The guy is undefeated, never lost a fight. He does make it hard for people to like him. There’s people who love him and there’s people who hate him. But what you can’t deny, is the guy has never lost a fight.”
