This weekend at UFC 267, Khamzat Chimaev made a statement with a dominant win over Li Jingliang. ‘Borz’ moved to 4-0 in the UFC with a first-round submission win over ‘The Leech’. Following his win, the 27-year-old cut a brilliant promo in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. ‘Borz’ sent out a warning to the rest of the welterweight division, saying he was going to kill everyone and that he is the king of the division.

Borz’ is expected to make a quick turnaround given he absorbed zero damage during the fight and the fact that he has been out of action for a year. One of the front runners to face Chimaev is Neil Magny, who recently shared his thoughts on Chimaev and a potential matchup with him.

He said, “No one wants to fight this guy.’ ‘I doubt on Monday when the new rankings come out that anyone in the top 10 will fight this guy.’ ‘He’s just a monster and everyone is going to do their best to avoid him. I’m sitting there reading these comments over and over again like, ‘What? No way. I wanted to fight this guy a year ago.’ Nothing has changed today.”

Magny is currently ranked 8th in the welterweight division. A fight against Chimaev would make a lot of sense. Magny is in the top 10 and ‘Borz’ will be looking for a quick turnaround fight.

In the interview, Magny shared what his game plan would be if he fought Chimaev in December. He said, “Last year, there was this mystique or aura around him like, ‘This guy is unbeatable. He’s the new kid on the block.’ Everyone was afraid to put their name out there. I was like, ‘I don’t care. I’ll fight this guy.’ I’ve fought some of the best guys in the UFC over the last nine years. I have nothing to be afraid of at this point.”

‘The Haitian Sensation’ continued, “I want to go to war against a guy like Chimaev. I know for a fact that I can drag him into deep water and beat him. So, that’s what I’m looking to do against him.”
