Colby Covington is one of the hottest MMA fighters around. Never mind the endorsement from President Donald Trump, Colby is delivering inside the octagon. His last few fights have all been spectacles to watch. Along with that, Covington is looking to stay active in the UFC.

After rebounding from his loss to Kamaru Usman last December with a fifth-round finish of rival and former champion Tyron Woodley, Colby looks in line for another title shot.

But, there is a more interesting fight out there for Colby. It is against his rival and former teammate Jorge Masvidal. Dana White confirmed that they are trying to book the fight, and here is what Colby had to say about it on Submission Radio.

“Dana White came up to me right after my fight and said, ‘hey we wanna do you and Street Judas Masvidal’. I accepted right on that night, in that minute, so the UFC knows I’m on board. Now it’s just about getting Street Judas Masvidal on board. That guy is scared. He is scared of my shadow. If my shadow was around here, he’d be running. Who knows if he’ll show up to the Octagon.”

Covington also said, “It’s the biggest fight they could possibly make in the UFC right now. It a pay-per-view main event. It’s a five-rounder. It’s an exciting matchup with fireworks on the line. You know I’m not going to be looking to dance on my feet like Marty Fakenewsman did. I am looking to dance on his face and he’s leaving that Octagon in a body bag. Mark my words.”

Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal: Is Covington an easy favorite?

Covington looks unstoppable against the highest tier of opponents recently. Former champions like Woodley and Robbie Lawler, along with a strong performance against Usman. However, Masvidal has beaten a similarly illustrious list of opponents. ‘Gamebred’ knocked Darren Till out of the WW division, destroyed Ben Askren’s hype, and then won a hyped fight against Nate Diaz.

The difference is that Covington almost beat Usman while Masvidal looked outclassed. ‘Chaos’ has the skill-set to neutralize the BMF champion, and probably would if they meet. However, we have seen that Masvidal responds whenever personally attacked (Askren fight). This fight is as personal as it gets, so we can expect Masvidal to come out as hard as we have seen him.
