Justin Gaethje came into the UFC as the WSOF lightweight champion. Having defended his belt multiple times, there was a lot of hype surrounding Gaethje. He delivered on all that hype and much more as he put on a fight of the year performance against Michael Johnson and stopped him in round two.

Following the win, Gaethje succumbed to back-to-back losses against the likes of Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier before going on a four-fight win streak, obliterating everyone in his path. During his time with the UFC, Gaethje has put on one power-packed performance after another. And thankfully for the fans, Gaethje will be around for a lot longer as he confirms he has signed a contract extension with the UFC

In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto, he said, “Yup, yup we’re here for a bit. Yeah, I am excited man, it was a great day…. I’d like to call it security, but we know it is not security we can’t get out of it. They can fire us anytime.”

‘The Highlight’ continued, “I wish I was able to be really proud of my accomplishment of securing my future in these four to six fights. But ultimately that is not the case. I gotta go out and prove myself every fight. That is what every single one of us has to do. Name of the game, I enjoy it, I am a showoff. I am a performer. It is also why you can earn more money by being a performer. That’s why I am getting paid more than most guys in the history of the sport.”
