It looks like we have another great fight coming our way in the lightweight division. New Zealand fighter and #6 lightweight contender of the world, Dan Hooker, revealed that he has accepted his next fight. While the fighter hasn’t signed an agreement, he confirmed that he was offered a fight from the UFC. Needless to say, he has accepted the offer.

Dan Hooker is coming off a potential “Fight of the Year” performance against former interim champion Dustin Poirier. While he lost the bout via unanimous decision, Hooker won many hearts for his incredible performance and his durability inside the Octagon. By taking on someone as credible as Poirier, Hooker showed why he is a real threat in the division.

Hooker could be looking at a potential match-up against Rafael dos Anjos. The former lightweight champion announced his return to the lightweight division with an emphatic win over Paul Felder. After an unsuccessful stint at the welterweight division, dos Anjos’ return to the 155-pound is certainly exciting. He is currently ranked #7 in the lightweight rankings. Dos Anjos could be looking at facing someone ranked above him in the UFC rankings.

What’s next for Dan Hooker?

Needless to say, with Tony Ferguson and Charles Oliveira fresh off a fight, and Poirier and McGregor set to take on each in January next year, there are hardly any options for Hooker. The division is packed, and it looks like the official announcement for Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler is just around the corner.

Rafael dos Anjos is 1-1 at lightweight since dropping the championship belt to Eddie Alvarez back in July 2016. He looked incredible in his last fight against a seasoned veteran like Paul Felder. Needless to say, the former champion is here to reclaim his throne. He will look to send a notice to the entire division with a win over top-prospect Dan Hooker.
